Hi, my name is Sruthy and my elder sister Preethi just got married. My sister and I did most of our shopping together, for the wedding we had our blouses stitched at Studio 9696, my sister got a cut work blouse which was beautifully designed by them.

The green saree I wore is from Mahaveer's in Coimbatore and it was such a beautiful colour, I also experimented a little and put flowers in my hair which I ordered from Vaagai, an online store and I was so happy with my order.

My sister chose her saree because she wanted it to match the pink and gold lotus-theme of the wedding. I wanted a different blouse to match in contrast to my saree colour so I went for a different pattern and she went for cut work blouse that was designed by studio 9696, Chennai.

Our jewellery was a mixture of collections, which had been collected and exclusively picked. Rama Jewellers from Madurai is one of our oldest gold smith and Ana jewellery from Rajapalayam, these two places from my native provided us with some gorgeous pieces.

My jewellery is from Big Shop, Ooty which is famous for its fine and intricate temple jewellery. My grandmother's necklace was transformed into a gorgeous waist chain by them. And my diamond neckpiece is from Vishwa Devji.

Both our mehendi outfits were also designed by Studio 9696. I wore a dress which was actually transformed from a sari and it was done effortlessly by our designers. For the mehendi, I picked my jewellery from Kushals as they had a good collection to offer.

We had a small function consisting of close family member, which was held at home a day before the wedding. I wore my favourite sari on this day, An Uppada silk sari from Mahaveer's which was classy and elegant and reflected my style. The blouse for this sari was designed by Vinitas, Coimbatore.

During the ceremony which involved the exchange of garlands, I wore a grand Kanchipuram sari from Ambabhavani silks, which was again green. Coincidentally most of my saris turned out to be green, I ended up wearing 3 different shades of green - pista green, leafy green and bottle green.

It was such a close-to-heart moment on her big day, realising that things wouldn't be the same as before. I felt poignant that my dearest sister was leaving to her husband's, but at the same time it was a bliss to see her happily begin her next phase of life. An emotionally overpowering feeling altogether.

Because I know I might not get such a chance again in the near future, once she's busy with her married life and responsibilities. IMG_0769 IMG_0585 The most special part is the feeling you get when you see the glow on as your sister as she's getting married followed by that ecstatic smile on your parent's face. These feelings can never be expressed in words but only felt by heart in that moment.
