Eight Years And Still Strong – Sheetal And Harshavardhan’s Love Story

Shopzters loves love story, we're suckers for romance. So when we found out about Sheetal and Harsha, we just had to bring you their story. A teenage crush that lead into a cute relationship and has finally resulted into a sappy engagement, here is the story in Sheetal's words:

Harsha and I have known each other for over nine years. He was a professional basketball player and even played for India a few years after I met him. But since he was older and already so good at the sport, I immediately was in awe of this older boy when I joined a basketball class he used to go to, I was in 9th grade then.

I proposed to him and told him that I was in love with him. He was so clear since the beginning that he didn't want something unless it lasted forever and lead to marriage. Eight years ago we decided we wanted to get married, I was 14 then and look at us now. We didn' actually date or go out together till I turned 19, we just texted and spoke on the phone.

Of course we had ups and downs as most couples do but we made it through. Thankfully our parents were very understanding as both our parents have had love marriages themselves, they accepted us with open arms. In January, the parents met each other and the wedding was finalised. The date has been set for June 25th 2017.

The engagement was held on 22nd August at PRC, T-Nagar, Chennai. I wore a lehenga from Mina Bazaar in Bangalore, they have a brilliant collection and are not too expensive. I wore the shock pink and orange lehenga with a golden blouse in a half sari style. The lehenga looked the best in pictures.

However, I enjoyed the sari I wore for the second half of the function better personally. It was a peachy pink silk sari which I picked up from Tulsi silks. I paired it with a raw silk yellow blouse as suggested by Shruthi Kannath who runs the label Couture K, she convinced me that a contrasting colour blouse would look beautiful and she was right

Harsha wore a dark pink magenta shirt for the first half paired with a dhoti which he picked up from Prestige The Man Store. His other outfit was a Jodhpuri suit from Manyavar who are known for their variety and statement pieces.

The jewellery I wore had a lot of variations, I wore diamond jhumkis which I got from EFIF Diamonds who have exquisite designs and paired them with a diamond necklace from the evergreen GRT. I also picked up a few pieces from Kushal's who do great fashion jewellery.

My make-up was done by Ibrahim who did a superb job as expected, is the best in town, and he proves it time and again.. I was a bit apprehensive as I've never worn heavy makeup before and I couldn't ask for a trial because he has a really busy schedule. But not just I, even my dad was so happy with the outcome that I immediately booked him for my wedding as well.

The catering was done by Pattapa and the food left everybody licking their fingers. Especially the litchi and strawberry sweet which nobody could resist. The decor was done by Jenifer Divya from Red thread events and it was extremely good.

My photographer, Ashokarsh from AA Photography and Jenifer were a brilliant team together. They discussed everything beforehand just to make sure that the pictures came out good. They made sure that the colours were complimenting and the light fittings were exactly what Ashokarsh needed and wanted to click good pictures. We've known him from before and were confident about his work, but it turned out so much better than we expected.

The hall was quite small and it was overcrowded, but in the pictures it looks so good that nobody can guess how jam packed it was, instead it just looked beautiful. I couldn't have asked for anything better.
