Celebrity Wedding - DD & Srikanth!

Celebrity Wedding - DD & Srikanth!

She is truly the embodiment of liveliness and charm! She has mesmerized countless people with her candid and friendly nature! I am extremely pleased to feature the wedding of Dhivyadarshini, who is fondly referred as DD. It was awesome talking to her! Though a celebrity, she is very much grounded and is extremely candid. Just love you DD for what you are! And I only wish and pray that you remain the same forever! May God shower you with loads of happiness that you bring to people’s lives!

Tell us about your fiancée and how did you both meet?

Srikanth Ravichandran is also in the industry. He is a filmmaker and has assisted Director Gautam Vasudev Menon. He is soon gonna make his debut film. I met him through a mutual friend six years ago. We have been best friends since then. We are a gang of friends who always roam around together, watch movies together and even eat in the same plate. I call him mama. Never in our dreams did we ever think that we will get married. Our parents got together and decided that they had enough of us loitering around town and finalized the wedding date. We had just a month left! Though we were a little sceptical about getting married initially, I have to confess that we have eventually fallen in love!

How many months of planning did you do? How did you manage to do it between the shoots?

It was very hectic. We had a lot of events during that time. I guess, it all just fell in place!  I think I would have been the easiest bride! Absolutely no planning! I do feel bad that I could not invite everyone. I had shoot till June 26th night and hence I could not devote a lot of time for the wedding preparations. Vijay Awards was on 5th of July and hence we had to postpone our Reception to 6th. After the programme, I came home at 4.30 am on 6th, slept and got up at 12.30 and rushed for the reception! I picked my slippers and earrings for the Reception on the way! Our families were of great support. Special mention to my nephew Rishie.  He was the hardest working member in my wedding and the amount of work this 13 year old did was outstanding!

What rituals did you have and what is your favourite?

It was a typical Tam - Brahm wedding. A chilled out wedding, I must say! Happy and fun filled!  I was smiling and laughing. No tension!  Such a cool and relaxed wedding! Srikanth literally danced before tying the knot! All the credits go to my family who were very supportive and flexible! My favourite one was maalai maathal which was real fun and I enjoyed it thoroughly!

Can you share the details about your wedding trousseau as well as the other vendor details?

Sarees:   Pothys and Kalaniketan (for my family). I just loved their collections and they made saree shopping so simple! Jewellery:  VBJ is my favourite and they are personally lucky for me. I am so much attached to them that I even requested my mother-in-law to make the thirumangalyam from them and she obliged!

Makeup and Hair-do:  I did my own make up for the wedding. Generally, even for TV shows, I take care of my make-up! But I cannot do without my hair-stylists. Raghavan and Saravanan have been my personal favourites. You wouldn’t believe this! It so happened that I slept off in between two events and the hairstylists did the Reception hairstyle without disturbing me and as soon as I got up, I was almost ready for the reception!

Designer:  Swaadh designer studio - Few years back I met Swapna Reddy of Swaadh design studio in an award function. In the course of our conversation, she expressed her interest to design my clothes. One day, I did not get my clothes designed in time and hence asked Swapna if she could do it for me very fast. Swapna did a very good job and from then she has designed all my clothes. I would just give colour preference and they would take care of the rest.  As simple as that!

Photo and Video:  I had earlier left the responsibility of choosing the wedding photographer to Srikanth and his sister.  It was at this time Sri from Shutter Worthy photography asked for an opportunity and I personally referred him to my husband and now Sri is one of Srikanth's favourite photographers!

Decorator:  ‘Poo Shop’ Balaji is my very good friend.  They took care of everything according to my taste. I did not have to look at the designs and make a choice. They took the responsibility and I saw the decoration only after I went to the mandap. I was totally stunned at how elegantly they had decorated I was very keen that I wanted a simple décor and there it was the way I wanted! I didn’t worry even a bit about how it will be!

Catering: Mr. Mohan, MS Caterers, took charge of the major responsibility of serving delicious food. He knows everything about weddings. He is in fact a wedding dictionary who has done a lot of tam-brahm weddings! The mandapam G.G. Mahal belongs to them. Invitations: Mr. Mohan took care of the invitations also. My friend Jagan designed the invitation for celebrity reception. I just requested him and he very sweetly helped in getting the invitations ready.

Mehandi: It was organized by my friends Rekha and Aishu. The entire ceremony was a gift from them! It happened at Rekha’s house. They made me sit in an oonjal which was decorated elegantly with yellow flowers; yellow being my favourite colour. It was a lot of fun!  Sangeet: There was non-stop fun, frolic and entertainment at our sangeet. The television actors/anchors performed varied dance numbers and rocked the stage completely. It was very sweet of them all to take time and practise dance in the evenings exclusively for the event.

Groom’s Wardrobe – Srikanth’s Reception suit was exclusively designed by the celebrity designer Sydney Sladen whereas his Bandhgala suit was designed by Gibran!

Any funny/ interesting/ memorable moments during the wedding that you would like to share?

The funniest incident I can think of is that the Iyer took a selfie in the midst of chanting the manthras, and there were peals of laughter all around! Although, it was a different experience for me to wear madisar; the best thing is that my sister also changed to a madisar and the whole audience clapped when we entered the hall!! I was the only girl who was not married in our college gang. All my friends have been waiting for me to be happily married for a long time now. After the wedding got over, we all got a little emotional.

What beauty/ fitness regime did you follow before your wedding?

I did not go for any bridal facial at all! As I told earlier, I had shoot till 26th night and was extremely busy. When I went to visit Director Shankar sir, his wife insisted me that I should take a spa session at least and I squeezed my time for just one session. Generally, I use kadala maavu only. I hardly go for any facials. General Tip for Girls – you have to use it continuously for years and years. You can’t expect a difference in a week :P
